Nightmare
I woke up from a nightmare that turned out to be a dream
I sat up in my bed and stared out my window sweating
Sweating a damp, damp glossy sheen
Outside, monsters and ghosts and ogres
Vampires, bats, bugs and jokers
Flapped slinked slithered and seethed
Roaming ravenous repulsive
Colored red, blue, purple and vomit green
I gasped and shook
Wolves snickered snarled thundering
I, trembled stooped shaking
Witches approached cackled evil in the making
I gaped gulped wide eyed
Zombies moaned crawled from hell side
I whimpered and whispered and was about to scream
But then I heard some laughter and some sniffles
Little footsteps and cute whistles
Realizing, my doorbell ringing,
It was only Halloween
